FAQ

What is a static IP vs a public dynamic IP?

A public dynamic IP is a real internet address that can change when your modem reconnects. A static IP is a public address the ISP promises not to change. Both let inbound connections reach your home; a static IP is mainly useful when something else needs a fixed address (allow-lists, DNS, some cameras). Behind CGNAT you have neither until the ISP moves you off.

Why are so many static IPs business-only?

Most large cable and fiber ISPs sell a fixed public IPv4 only on business plans. Residential lines often get a changing public IPv4, or sit behind CGNAT with no public IPv4 at all. The table marks that as 'Business only' when our sources say so.

How were these prices sourced?

Every price links from the ISP's own page on this site. Official means the ISP published the number; community means customers reported it and the ISP does not list it. Prices change by market and plan, so check the linked source before you buy.

What if the price says unknown?

We know the ISP offers (or does not offer) a static IP, but we have not found a published dollar amount. Submit a report if you have a bill or an official page with the fee.
