Does GCI use CGNAT?
Short answer: Sometimes. GCI uses CGNAT on some plans or in some areas, according to customer reports (we found no official GCI statement).
Can I self-host on GCI?
Customer reports say GCI's gateways can be put in bridge mode (or GCI support can do it) so your own router gets the WAN address.
| CGNAT by default? | Some plans/areas Confidence: Low: customer reports only; no official ISP statement found. Customer reports (2025) are mixed: some Anchorage users found CGNAT, while others report a public IPv4 on standard service. One user says swapping GCI's modem/router for a standalone modem fixed inbound access. GCI hasn't said anything public about it that we found.

| Terms on running servers | Limited GCI's internet terms don't ban servers outright, but list continuous or sustained server operation as usage that can trigger an account review (GCI reviews accounts over 4 TB a month). Examples of these activities may include, but are not limited to, use of the service as a substitute or backup for Dedicated Access internet service; continuous or frequent and sustained operation of server devices, host computer applications such as continuous Web camera broadcasts, or streaming video and peer-to-peer file sharing programs
