Does T-Mobile Fiber (Lumos) give you a public IP?

Short answer: Residential lines often start on CGNAT. T-Mobile Fiber / Lumos does not publish a clear consumer CGNAT page we could find. Customers report that asking support for a public or "static" IPv4 works; some were charged about $10/month, others got a public dynamic IP at no charge. Treat price and process as market-specific until an official page confirms them.

Does it use CGNAT by default?

Yes according to multiple 2025–2026 customer write-ups for new T-Mobile Fiber (Lumos) installs: the WAN came with a shared / CGNAT address and inbound connections failed until support reprovisioned the line. We found no official Lumos or T-Mobile Fiber page that states "we use CGNAT." Confidence is low (reports only). See the T-Mobile Fiber ISP page.

Official path to a public IPv4

No published residential SKU found. What customers report:

Until T-Mobile Fiber publishes the option and price, call support and get the fee (if any) in writing on your account. This guide does not invent an official price.

What about IPv6?

Customer reports from Lumos markets say residential IPv6 wasn't available yet (tier-2 confirmed in at least one Aug 2026 review). That may change by market. Verify with the checker on your line.

How to confirm on your line

  1. Use how to tell if you're behind CGNAT.
  2. Look for a WAN address in 100.64.0.0/10 (explainer) or a WAN/public mismatch.
