Does Kinetic (Windstream) give you a public IP? (CGNAT, static IP and servers)

Short answer: Yes, per 2026 customer reports: Kinetic fiber lines get a dynamic public IPv4, not CGNAT, so port forwarding works. A static IP on home service is unclear: Kinetic's terms still mention one, but a customer report says residential static IPs were discontinued around 2025. Kinetic's acceptable use policy bans running servers on non-dedicated accounts. We haven't found an official Kinetic statement on CGNAT, so this is low confidence.

Does Kinetic use CGNAT?

Customers say no: Kinetic fiber hands out a public (dynamic) IPv4. We haven't found an official Kinetic page on it. The report is cited on the Kinetic ISP page. DSL lines may differ; if you're on DSL, run the check below and tell us what you see.

Static IP on Kinetic

Kinetic's product-specific terms mention static IPs as part of an add-on called "Secure Broadband". A 2025 customer report says residential static IPs were discontinued. We haven't found a current price. If you have one on a home plan, send us the details.

How to confirm on your line

  1. Follow how to tell if you're behind CGNAT: compare the router's WAN IP with your public IP.
  2. Run the checker. Its port test checks a forwarded port from outside, and the report sums up what you can host.
